Clay Battelle

2015 Clay-Battelle H.S. Preview

(Includes interviews with Jarret Hockenberry, Ryan Wilson & Tanner Six)

The best season in school history left Clay-Battelle just seven points away from Wheeling Island Stadium. The 2014 edition of Cee-Bee football captured a program-best eleven victories, including two playoff wins on their homefield in Blacksville. But many of the key contributors on that squad have moved on, leaving veteran head coach Ryan Wilson with sixteen holes to fill in starting lineups on both sides of the ball.

While new starters will line up all over the field, the engine of the Cee-Bee offense returns after a dynamic junior season. Senior quarterback Jarret Hockenberry excelled in his first season as a starter, accounting for 27 total touchdowns and over 1,700 yards of total offense. His arm and his legs will set the tone for a Cee-Bee offense that averaged 39 points a game in the regular season last fall.

A younger squad will be tested by a schedule that is highlighted by a Week 4 visit from defending state champion Williamstown. A program with nine playoff appearances in the last eleven years will look to maintain their high standard of play.
