FIRST ON 5 NEWS: Man Flown to Ruby After Accident in Upshur County

Excessive speed causes an accident in Upshur County, sending one man to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

State Police say Dustin Carpenter was driving South on Route 20, just past Buckhannon-Upshur High School, around 11 p.m. Saturday, when he took a turn too quickly and lost control of his car. It flipped off of the roadway and came to a rest on its top.

Carpenter was able to get himself out of the car, but his passenger was trapped and had to be taken out by fire crews. The passenger was taken by Healthnet to Ruby, but police say his injuries were not life-threatening.

No citations were issued at the time of the accident, but it is still under investigation.
